My Seventeen-Year-Old Blanket

Fresh and anew,

I latched onto the soft ends of a flat, pink piece of cloth.

Drowning in the long and fluffy fabric that was spread over my head

It became another part of me that I couldn't let go of.

Embracing its warmth that always felt like a mother's hug,

To the tears that seeped into the holes of the fabric

Now only covers half of my body.

A faded, worn-out blanket

That I clutch close to my stomach and curl up,

A warm layer that heats up my body whenever my heart feels cold.

The blanket that grew up with me

Gave me comfort when no one else could.

Aging and getting older together,

I'll continue to grasp on tighter.
